Abstract:

Background and Objective: Fixed drug eruption (FDE) is one kind of drug rashes that is characterized by re-appearance of the lesions on the same sites after re-exposure to the causative drug. This study was performed to evaluate the epidemiologic characteristics of FDE. Materials and Methods: This descriptive study was done on a series of 100FDE cases, whom were admitted at the outpatient dermatology clinic of Hazrat-e-Rasoul Hospital over a six-year period. The primary diagnosis of FDE was suggested according to clinical findings including a remaining hyperpigmentation at the site of healed skin lesion(s). Oral challenge test with a single low dose administration of the suspected drug was used to confinn the diagnosis. Recurrence of the lesion(s) at the same body area(s) was considered as positive result. Results: Most commonly causative agents were co-trimoxazole and codein, which were found in 88% and 3% FDE cases; respectively. The most common site of involvement was penile glans in 57.7% of male patients and trunk in 48.3% of females. In one patient, reaction to multiple drugs including co-trimoxazole, codein and tetracycline was observed and after re-challenge with each drug, re-appearance of the skin lesion at the same site was evident. Several patients reported concomitant acetaminophen intake, but there was no reaction to that drug. Conclusion: Co-trimoxazole is the most common cause of FDE.

Abstract:

Alarm systems are essential in safe operation of industrial plants. Since many process variables are interacting with each other, so in this paper, an approximate method is introduced to design and analysis of a multivariate alarm system. In this method, the alarm system is designed base on joint indices. The Joint FAR and Joint MAR are defined for a m-variable alarm system thanks to multivariate Markov scheme. In proposed method, the alarm joint indices are defined by solving a Linear Programing (LP) optimization problem. By defining joint indices, tuning of the alarm parameters (like, threshold and etc. ) can be done by these indices instead of correlation analysis. In this paper, penalty scenario and Genetic algorithm are used for alarm generation, and parameter optimization in Tennessee Eastman (TE) Process. The results of proposed method are compared with other methods.

Abstract:

Introduction: The art of medicine glorifies when a clinician listens carefully to the patient's story, gives a thorough examination, performs appropriate investigations, and finally links findings together to reach a definite diagnosis. An interesting case was reported here, highlighting the integration of different symptoms and manifestations with some relevant biochemical investigations to reach a final diagnosis. To the best of our knowledge, fixed flexion deformity, as a complication of subcutaneous calcification, has not been previously reported in a child with Albright hereditary osteodystrophy (AHO). Case Presentation: A 2. 5-year-old boy was born at term with a birth weight of 3. 5 kg (-0. 49 SDS). The child was referred to a general pediatrician with a history of right elbow joint swelling noticed initially at six months of age. He then developed the limitation of right upper arm movement, which slowly progressed afterward. The patient had no history of trauma. At nine months of age, he was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, preceded by cold skin, dry hair, and constipation. At nine years of age, he presented with a fixed flexion deformity of the right elbow associated with markedly limited joint movement and symmetrical hands with hyperpigmented knuckles of right metacarpal bones. Subcutaneous masses were felt along the right forearm, showing tenderness on palpation. Investigations revealed elevated serum parathyroid hormone and normal calcium indicating parathyroid hormone resistance. Further genetic testing revealed GNAS mutation. The child was obese throughout his childhood. Conclusions: This case report describes an obese child with subcutaneous calcification that led to fixed flexion deformity of the elbow, starting at an incredibly early age. Hypothyroidism and pseudohypoparathyroidism raised the suspicion of AHO, which was later confirmed by genetic testing. This is the first case report on fixed flexion deformity in a patient with GNAS mutation (c. 719-1G > A Chr20: 57484737) in West Asia.

Abstract:

Probability density functions of the involved random variables are essential for the reliability-based design of offshore structures. The objective of present research was the derivation of probability density function (PDF) for the local joint flexibility (LJF) factor, fLJF, in two-planar tubular DK-joints commonly found in jacket-type offshore structures. A total of 162 finite element (FE) analyses were carried out on 81 FE models of DK-joints subjected to two types of axial loading. Generated FE models were validated using available experimental data, FE results, and design formulas. Based on the results of parametric FE study, a sample database was prepared for the fLJF values and density histograms were generated for respective samples based on the Freedman-Diaconis rule. Nine theoretical PDFs were fitted to the developed histograms and the maximum likelihood (ML) method was applied to evaluate the parameters of fitted PDFs. In each case, the Kolmogorov-Smirnov and chi-squared tests were used to evaluate the goodness of fit. Finally, the Inverse Gaussian model was proposed as the governing probability distribution function for the fLJF. After substituting the values of estimated parameters, two fully defined PDFs were presented for the fLJF in tubular DK-joints subjected to two types of axial loading.

Abstract:

LET I BE A SEMI-PRIME IDEAL. PO Î MIN (I) IS CALLED IRREDUNDANT WITH RESPECT TO I IF I, ¹ ∩  PO¹PÎMIN(I) P.IFI IS THE INTERSECTION OF ALL IRREDUNDANT IDEALS WITH RESPECT TO I, IT IS CALLED A FIXED-PLACE IDEAL. IF THERE ARE NO IRREDUNDANT IDEALS WITH RESPECT TOI, IT IS CALLED AN ANTI FIXED-PLACE IDEAL. WE SHOW THAT EACH SEMI-PRIME IDEAL HAS A UNIQUE PRESENTATION AS AN INTERSECTION OF A FIXED-PLACE IDEAL AND AN ANTI FIXED-PLACE IDEAL. WE ALSO PROVE THAT ZERO IDEAL OF A REDUCED RINGR IS ANTI FIXED-PLACE IDEAL (FIXEDPLACE IDEAL) IF AND ONLY IF MIN (R) WITH ZARISKI TOPOLOGY HAS NO ISOLATED POINT (THE SET OF ALL ISOLATED POINTS OF MIN (R) WITH ZARISKI TOPOLOGY IS DENSE IN MIN (R)).

Abstract:

In this research, nondestructive evaluation of finger and scarf joints manufactured with beech wood were performed using through transmission ultrasonic technique. For this purpose, sound joints were manufactured. Then ultrasonic parameters including ultrasonic wave velocity, coefficient of attenuation, maximum amplitude and root mean squares (RMS) voltage were measured in longitudinal and perpendicular direction of joints. Through- Transmission technique with transducers of 40 kHz was used for all measurements. Results showed that there was no significant different between ultrasonic parameters in perpendicular direction of the specimens with and without joints, however in longitudinal direction, the wood specimens (without joint) exhibited significantly higher ultrasonic velocity. Higher coefficient of attenuation and the lower maximum amplitude and RMS voltage were obtained in longitudinal direction of the specimens with finger joints in comparison with specimens without joint as well as with scarf joints.

Abstract:

This article presents an investigation of dynamical behaviors of perfect and defected fixedfixed single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNTs) model as a beam structures. The fundamental frequencies and modal participation factors for fixedfixedsupported SWCTS are considered through this analysis for the first time. Energy-equivalent model is implemented to find a relationship between the energy stored in atomic chemical bonding and potential energy of mechanical beam structure. Nanotube software modeler is exploited to create a geometrical structural of SWCNTs by defining its length of nanotube, bond distance between two atoms, and chiral angle. The tube of SWCNTs are simulated as fixedfixed-supported structure at both ends, while bonding between each two atoms is modeled by 3D beam element with circular cross section. Parametric results are illustrated to display the effects of vacancy on activation and deactivation of vibration modes, fundamental frequencies, and modal participation factors of SWCNTs.

Abstract:

Let B(X) and Mn (F) be the algebra of all bounded linear operators on a complex Banach space X with dimX³3 and the algebra of all n×n matrices over a field F with F¹2, respectively. Also let F(A)be the space of all fixed points of an operator AÎB(X). In this paper, we characterize the forms of linear maps f:B(X)®B(X) which satisfy F(A)=0ÛF(f(A))=0 and linear maps f: Mn(F)® Mn(F) which preserve the fixed points of matrices.
